Chain of Custody (Book Two)

Ten years after the Burn, Captain Holm is found dead in his quarters — poisoned tea on his desk, a torn page in his stove ash.

June Tarrow, twenty-three and Second Rank, is drawn into the inquiry that follows: a murder built on a custody log, and a forgery built on the Tally's own seals. Die No. 2 was retired to its case years ago. Someone used it anyway.

Tracing iron-gall ink and a sign-out three weeks after Tally Day, June finds the one man who confesses to everything — and the page that makes his confession a lie.

The seals are his. The page is a lie.

Chain of Custody is the second book of The Tally.
